Noise cancellation is accomplished with Sonys dedicated HD Noise-Canceling QN1 processor and Sense Engine. Sense Engine is designed to automatically adjust the level of ambient sound based on your environment. Answer:Thank you so much for your interest in our newest Industry Leading Noise Canceling Overhead Headphones WH1000XM4! There have been some great upgrades to the WH1000XM4 from the WH1000XM3.
The WH1000XM4 utilizes DSEE Extreme™ (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) which upscales compressed digital music files in real-time. Dynamically recognizing the instrumentation, musical genres, and individual elements of each song, such as vocals or interludes, it restores the high-range sound lost in compression for a richer, more complete listening experience.
The new WH1000XM4 will reduce noise 20% better than the prior model. It does this in part by utilizing the 5 built-in microphones to remove the directional sound.
Also, the WH1000XM4 features smart listening technology to enhance your listening. With this, you can simply start speaking to automatically pause your music in Speak-to-Chat, or enjoy adaptive playback thanks to the proximity sensor and two acceleration sensors that detect whether your headphones are being worn or not.
Finally, we also gently adjusted the design of the headphones. We added more cushioning to the headband and ear padding. We also changed the outside dimensions of the headphones slightly so they sit more comfortably over your head.Question:Can you use the noice cancelling without playing music?

The Noise Canceling feature of these Bluetooth® headphones is initially set to automatically turn off after five minutes. You can change the Automatic Power Off setting in the Headphones Connect app from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 3 hours or, if you want Noise Canceling to stay on all the time, just simply tap Do not turn off. Also, the automatic power-off feature has only one setting, power-off after 15min of not wearing.Question:Will the mic be disabled when I use the 3.5 mm cable?
Answer:Hi grae.b, the three WH-1000XM4 voice pickup microphones located on the left earcup work only when connected via Bluetooth. The WH-1000XM4 headphones work fine for phone calls when the audio cable is connected, though, by utilizing the microphone from the smartphone.Question:Can they be used as wired headphones even without battery?

Audio quality is OUTSTANDING... What caught me off guard, however, was the noise cancellation! I thought Bose was amazing, but Sony's latest technology is on another level. It works so well, it's scary... Damn near can't hear a thing when they're on. Without any audio at all, it's as if you're trapped in "soundproof vacuum purgatory," with nothing but you & your now blaringly loud tinnitus to keep you company. When you take them off after a few hours of wearing, you (to be continued: Apparently, my family has been calling my name for the last 10 minutes. They gave up & sent my youngest upstairs to physically wave her hands in front of me @ my workstation to tell me we're eating soon. Yes, the noise cancellation is THAT good). Ok, continuing where I left off above: When you take them off after a few hours of wearing, your ears are now hyper-sensitive to every day sounds. Birds chirping, humming of video equipment, the heater, etc... I always assumed that Bose was the leader in this technology, but Sony just knocked it out of the park...

Definitely would buy this for someone I love or someone who enjoys music as much as I do, but nervous to a critical. The moise cancelation is a good 8/10 since it does block out wind and some voices buy unless the music is up about more than halfway you can still hear people. Otherwise the design is soft and comfy and overall it's been nothing but great. >w<

PROS: - Better Reviews than the new WH-1000XM5 Model - VERY Lightweight, Comfortable, and Adjustable - Best in Class Noise Cancelling AI & Capabilities - Removing Headphones Pauses Playback - Superb Sounding Built-in Microphones - Very Intuitive Touch Sensor Controls - 30+ Hours of Playback (Full Charge) - 10 Minute Quick Charge (5 hours) - Able to Pair w/ Multiple Devices - Quality Travel Case Included - Great for Phone Calls CONS: - Can't Listen Wirelessly w/ ANC while Charging (Annoying) - Default EQ Settings can Sound a bit Muddy. This isn't an Issue as EQ can be Tweaked - None. I'm Really Nitpicking at This Point

The noise cancelling is amazing and well worth the discounted price to me! If you do not care for high quality noise cancelling you could definitely find cheaper ones. They also do not have a super loud bass. Another thing I noticed is they tend to start sliding off if I lean over or jump around, and I have decent sized head. That being said I do not think these would be the best headphones for things like running. Overall they were well worth the money in my opinion because I really like the noise cancelling on this set.

Download Sony Headphone Connect App, open box, turn on headphones (bottom of left headphone on/off switch), using Sony Connect App, connect and paired new headphones. - My headphones were 100% charged out of box. - Many features in Sony Connect App, matter of your preference and use. I do think the app is solid and useful for my use of these headphones. - My headphones firmware updated automatically -be patient, process took several minutes. Initial impression; very comfortable, really good noise canceling and sound quality. - Voice clarity on both ends is outstanding. - Easily connected two iPhones, my experience switching between them was seamless. - Used ear profile in-app feature to analyze my ear shape for 360 Reality Audio setup. - Able to connect to MacBook Pro (2020 version) directly via Bluetooth with no issues.

The noise cancelling on these headphones is so good that I didn't notice when people screamed and cars honked at me as I crossed the road. Anyway I got hit by a malfunctioning cement truck and permanently became one with the streets. Legends says that the headphones are still on my head in working condition. Would definitely buy again!

These headphones sound absolutely fantastic. Installing the app on my phone and changed the EQ to excite mode. The bass is not in your face but if you like the rumble low end movie like bass than you will want these. Not to say these headphones can get much more bass if your into that thing. You can connect these headphones to 2 blue tooth devices. So if your a student you can brows tic tok on your iphone and switch to that online lecture like nothing. The build quality is like i said. Slick. Smooth and feels like it will last. The features are pretty cool and time will tell if i keep on using them. But so far after a bit of use i have no issue with any of them as of yet. The battery is fantastic. its light. if you have the DEEP pockets than pull the trigger on these bad boys!

Just sitting outside a busy factory downtown city on a park bench. I pull out these slick soft headphones and once i power it on. Well just silence, like your in your own world. I got chills since I've never had noise cancelling headphones.

I came to decision to purchase these headphones as I ride the train to work each day and wanted to ignore the mass of humanity around me. When I first got these headphones I put them on, connected to my phone and hit play. When I heard the sound that comes out of these I actually jumped up and down like a child and said "these are so good". The build quality is great and the noise cancelling function is amazing. You can see humanity just not hear them. Which was exactly what I was looking for.

It is very clear by the pictures that I have been using those, damn, even now I am wearing them. SONY WH1000XM4, have been waiting for them, since got into wireless headphones 2 years ago, I have been using Airpods Gen 2 and Galaxy Buds. I can tell you, they freaking suck against this monster, bass is super clear, yet hits real hard. The music feels really deep and 3D. I am using the headphones with Samsung galaxy s10, and i have no troubles listing to spotify premium, no lags, no delays, I mean what did you expect for a 500$cad headphones? The fit is fantastic, you can go on really long music sessions and don't feel tired after listing to them at all. Never got to use palm feature, since I look kinda dumb putting my hand over the headphone in order to turn on ambient and mute music, I would rather take them off completely. Battery life is wonderful, 3 solid days without any charging with full blasting music on ANC.
